Since then, nineteen-year-old Sara and her family have wandered the country, searching for a new place to call home. With her oldest sibling and mother singularly focused on protecting their family, Sara finds herself almost entirely responsible for her three youngest siblings. But disaster strikes when Sara’s beloved brother Noah is taken by the creatures. 

With the help of a mysterious young woman named Parsley, who appears one day in their garden, Sara sets out to find Noah across a landscape of merciless terror. As the journey to find Noah gets more dangerous, the relationship between Sara and Parsley grows, and the girls find a strange sort of happiness. But as the days drag on, Sara begins to question if Parsley can truly be trusted. And even more, what exactly are the eldritch creatures? And what do they want with her brother?
